Didn't think much of Mexican Cafe. Possibly because I have very fond childhood memories of the Mexican Cantina in Wellington. I miss their crab tacos, cheese enchiladas, the alleyway entry and dark place that it was! So, I'm afraid the Mexican Cafe just didn't measure up. The food was average. I could make tastier, better food at home and so I don't go there. Last time I went was years ago, so it could have changed?

If you like bit to eat, wide selection of tequila's (To many to count) and to dance the night away, why would go anywhere else. I wouldn't recommend it for a quiet dinner though.

had a hot choclate there, not bad, not a bad atmosphere to have a drink with a freind or two, just wish they could turn the music down a little, so you dotn have to yell the top of your voice.

This restaurant is certainly for the young, or young at heart. The atmosphere is loud, vibrant and kitcshy. It is not for everyone: I would not bring my parents here, but certainly my friends. Here is how I found it: The food: nachos especial are the way to go, they are always a hit with anyone I recommend them to, corn chips, refried beans, guacamole, chicken or beef (I like the chicken better - the beef is minced), salsa, sour cream, chilli, lettuce and fresh tomato; the sprinkling of corriander of the top gives it a great finish. I have tried entrees but find I cannot ever finish the main if I order entrees. The ceviche (raw fish) was terrible. If you are fussy about your seafood DO NOT try this dish; it is rubbery and tasteless, but the garlic bread, guacamole and salsa are all great starters. The decór: Vibrant, loud, exciting, fun. The service: slow when busy, otherwise always satisfactory. Excellent for a younger crowd. |

I love this place! between the great food, lovely service, tasty margaritas, lively atmosphere and yummy dessert chimichangas (say i sent you!) what else can you ask for? they must be doing something right to still be going strong after 25 years! we've been here several times and will certainly come back again. I reccomevnd it to all! p.s happy hour every day 5-7pm - cheap margaritas and snacks. |
