Talking

We really only decided to go in on the way to the Viaduct Basin and happening to read the menu. Initial misconceptions were that it was a "posh" restaurant, but once inside, we were constantly pleased with the service.

The food is excellent, and you really do get what you pay for. The duck in orange and chilli sauce (apologies for not remembering the correct description from the menu) was excellent and had a superb kick to it. My partner had the special which was snapper fillet with some side (apologies for my memory), but it was superb!

An excellent evening made possible by the superb food and attentive service.

10/10

Default Thanks for the review

Glad you enjoyed the restaurant. Always great when people take the time to say thanks for a good experience rather than just moan

Thumbs up CinCin- we're looking forward to it!

When we last visited Auckland in Nov '99, one of our highlights was meeting our new friends at CinCin for dinner- the atmosphere was wonderful, the food even better and the wine list superb. I don't remember exactly what we ordered that night but we've already made reservations for outr next trip in Jan 2006.

I was incredibly impressed with the whole experience at Cin Cin on Quay. I was formally met at the entrance by one of the staff members, who displayed a demeanour that was similar to one that you would expect from a relative welcoming you into their home.

For the majority of the evening I was served by a waiter who was very serviceable, personable and helpful with my menu choices. The rapport he quickly built up with me was a continuation from the one I experienced when I first walked in the door.

I had the market fish this evening which melted in my mouth and the brulee was the best I have ever tasted. I know that 'compliments to the chef' can be a bit of a cliche however in this situation it is definitely valid.

I know that the food mainly defines whether a restaurant is worthy, however I think that the decor and the general layout of the restaurant complimented the evening for me. I did not feel that I was sitting on the people in the table next to me and the intimate environment was in no way claustrophobic
.

wine list is good. shame they dont have half of what is on there. Always out of first and even second choices!! By the tatty nature of the lists I suggest they dont get updated more often than santa visits

however excellent glassware and the by the glass stuff always seems fresh

Default Absolute Rip Off

We have dinned in numerous countries & hate the fact that our worst ever experience was in our own country! Cin Cin's menu is now (did not use to be) very basic, the food very ordinary & the price very expensive for what it is. The wine list fools you into thinking you're buying a bottle when in fact you're buying a glass (deceitful way of doing it) & we had to repeat ourselves to the waiter too many times due to his lack of a grasp on the English language. Extremely disappointed as this used to be a great dinning experience.

Thumbs down Service was crap but food was good

The Manager insisted that I have ordered this $35.50 main while my friend and I are adamant that I've ordered a $22.50 entree. I demanded to speak to the manager and he said he is the manager and have been working here for 6 years and asked me not to shout at him while he was shouting at me, and not to treat him as he is uneducated because he has been working there for 6 years.

He then told us that we cannot split the bills and asked someone else to serve us, and gossip about me with another colleague.

He took about 15 minutes to sort out bills and he has no idea what he was doing. 15 of us spent more than $1000 there and I think we demand a much better service than that!
