We turned up to Hong Thai to find that there was a function and our table was actually TWO tables, which was not a good start. We had booked the table for 6.30 as we had children with us.

The others came a little late - 15 minutes or so, but when they did arrive they recived no menus and we sat and chatted for a while! Finally someone went up and asked for menus and rather than apologising and bringing them to the table the guy handed the menus over!

The staff were VERY slow. They were also VERY slack with refilling our water. We waited for at least an hour for the first meal to arrive and I was ready to walk out at this point. So I waited for a while, hoping to eat with everyone else, but the meals came out gradually over the next hour. During this time we saw customers get up and leave because they were tired of waiting and at another table they were eating rice as they didn't have their meals yet. Many people came in for takeaways, but I overheard one complaining that they'd been waiting an hour. We also saw the wait staff drinking wine behind the bar and laughing loudly and standing around talking - ignoring all the diners and not even bothering to refill our water! We also had to ask for more rice, even though the wait staff were not busy. The last meal that came (at least an hour after mine) was for my son and it was so hot that he couldn't eat it. All the meals on the menu were supposed to be the same unless you requested them to be cooked milder or hotter, however the meals were all different levels of hotness as we all tasted each others dishes.

I had the duck, which was very nice and many of the other dishes were great too, however our night was ruined because of the poor service. There was no problem at all with the food. In fact it is much nicer than Sawadee.

It was a very disappointing night that our group had been looking forward to for mother's day and I would not return to this restaurant.

Hong Thai - we went here for mother's day this year. Two words BAD SERVICE!

Meals were good - I had the duck, which was very nice, however I would not return here due to the poor service.

We arrived to find two separate tables for our group of ten, which was a bad start.

Menus were provided to the three of us, but not to the others who turned up ten minutes later - they had to go up and ask for menus after waiting a considerable amount of time - and rather than bringing the menus to our table (which I would consider more appropriate) the guy handed the menus over the counter!

The meals took so long to arrrive that I said "if it doesn't get here by ... I'm leaving". With two minutes to spare my meal arrived, however the rest of the meals arrived one by one for the next HOUR! Not great

The staff were very slack and neglected to give us more rice or water unless asked. They stood behind the bar drinking wine and laughing loudly and talking, neglecting the diners waiting for far too long for their meals. They should have been going around to tables explaining that there was a hold up and seeing if there was anything they could get us.

A table of people walked out of the restaurant saying that they were hungry and sick of waiting. Another table sat eating rice while waiting for their meals. I also heard a guy who had ordered takeaways say that he had been waiting for an hour. The staff did have a party in one room, but they should not book more tables than they can handle.
