Some work colleagues (four men) and I went to Wildfire for dinner after a meeting we had down at the Viaduct.

I found the service to be excellent, the wine list generous and the food outstanding!

We went for the "all you can eat" deal where you have to keep remembering to turn your little do-dacky over or they'll keep bringing you food.

The guys LOVED it ... and what guy wouldn't love being brought a constant barrage of succulent meat at the flip of a do-dacky!

All in all I found the experience to be one I would try again ... and I do recommend it to others too.

Smile Oh Boy!

That was a neat time, especially following the Vertigo 'experience' (read the review) the previous 3 days.

After wandering around the Viaduct Basin, we were attracted to Wildfire by the selection of food and the number of staff available to serve the diners.

Like Sparklechick, we chose the Churrasco (Brazilian BBQ) - all you can eat, complimented with a three tier salad selection.

Service was impeccable. Staff were polite, friendly and was a joy to have. They received (and deserved) a very generous tip from us.

Food? We are writing this the next day and we still feel full.
The choices were outstanding. Small exotic sausages, chicken, pork, pork ribs, king fish and what has to be the tastiest beef we have had in a long while.
These were brought to the table on long skewers and sliced to perfection.
And you had to remember the traffic light (Sparklechick's do-dacky) and turn it red to halt the advancing avalanche of food.

Leah was happy with the wine selection, she being our wine-tasting experten (ace).

Thank you team for an enjoyable night out and full credit to you young waiters and waitresses who made it all possible.

Oh, and the toilets are the cleanest and freshest we have seen in a long while.

Thumbs down Only drink at Wildfire if you want peoples leftovers!!!

I have received an e-mail through our internal system and I have copied the relevant part to this post. I have purposely kept the sender confidential but I believe that Wildfire management will be aware of this issue:

Subject: Only drink at Wildfire if you want peoples leftovers!!!

"Last Friday we went to Wildfire Takapuna for a relaxing drink. We were mistakenly given Chardonnay instead of Sauvignon Blanc. Fine - they were replaced with Sauv.

Out of interest I watched where the two glasses of chardonnay ended up.

To my disgust the Chardonnay that they knew we had had a drink out of, was poured back into the Chardonnay bottle and placed back in the fridge ready to sell to the next poor customer.

The other Wildfire bar staff looked on unbothered which tells me this is a common practice.

We questioned the blonde barperson who had committed the act. She went quite ashen and said "yes I did that" and stood there like a possum in the headlights.

Thus we asked for our money back saying, how did we know the Sauv we were drinking had not suffered the same recycling treatment and said that we would never drink there again.

A manager came over who may have mumbled us an apology, took our visa slip and gave us a cash refund.

Given this appears common practise we reported it to the appropriate authorities who paid Wildfire a visit ...

You guessed it – they denied this happening which has driven me to write this email so you can pass it on to people ......

spread it like wild fire.

S"

Over to you dear readers to decide whether of not to frequent the establishment.

We will NOT go back because of an incident that occurred during a work function that we held there earlier on this year:

One of the waiters came within a hairs-breath of personal disaster after he touched up (yes that is correct) on of the partners!

That person does not work there anymore but management were once again in denial mode leaving a sour taste.

Default I also received this email today

and would certainly think twice about being a patron of Wildfire in Takapuna.

I'd hope that this is an isolated incident and that the Viaduct restaurant do not practice the same horrifying cost savings!!

Thumbs down bad night at wildfire at the viaduct

I was really looking forward to a great tonight at wildfire restaurant however I found the attitude of the staff in particular the manager to be extremely rude and abbrassive.

On arrival at the restaurant I requested an outdoor table and was told none was available however I noticed that several tables remained empty well into the meal. On quizzing the manager he got extremely aggitated and aggressive and told me he expected those tables to be filled at any minute now and if I wanted to sit outside I should of requested this when I booked. However I did point out that inside was extremely stuffy and that my staff were complaining, the manager told me this was the weather on which I commented why wasn't the air conditioning on, to which he told me it was on maximum. Funny that the a/c seemed to come on after I returned to the table and I still did not see any guests arrive to those outside tables during the first sitting. I then had this guy give me daggers for the rest of the meal, like asking for anything is the wrong thing to do. Maybe this manager needs to learn a little bit about customer service.

I have been to wildfire in Sydney many times and expected a similar experience. The unfriendliness and unhelpfullness of this manager was not what I was expecting. I came to eat not to fight.

Avoid this crap restaurant with insincere manager and well below average churrascaria food. No Brazilian would be found dead eating here.
