I popped in here earlier this week for a late lunch, ju two of us in teh restaurant. My French toast was served blackened, it smelled and tasted disgustingly burnt, when kindly calling the waitress to show her and tell her it was inedible she just walked away, she then yelled from the kitchen that they could make fresh french toast, but I couldn't wait another 35minutes as I was parked in a 1hr parking zone. When my hubby went to pay they charged us for the uneaten burnt meal, I questioned it and they then tried to negotiate half price. The cook then came out and argued with us she said all her customers love their french toast that way. Chargrilled BLACKENED BURNT?? I think not. She later said it was cinnamon?? It was a terrible experience. I will never go back due to lack of respect for the customer and dreadful service.

Default Big Time reputation..

I was so sorry to read of your experience @ "BT" cafe, Austen & I opened the cafe in 1995 and built up a good little local cafe with lots of happy locals.
We moved on in 2001 - it seems the level of care moved with us, it's sad to see a good reputation and name be let down, gladly the cafe has a new name
and new owners - if you are ever in the south island visit Oamaru Creek Bed and Breakfast & we will cook you up a great french toast with a great espresso - on the house.
Regards,
Jay McMillan
