Lunch today was excellent.
We all had fish, My husband and daughter had fish and chips and I had the open fish sandwich.
The service was quick and friendly, food was fresh (my bread may have been a day or two old though) and the meals sizes were just right. The childrens menu was the usual, but since our little one loves chips that was fine. Her piece of tarahiki was the same as her dad's - big and freshly battered and fried. Husband has voted it best battered fish he's had in auckland, which is a very big call isn't it.
Prices were what you'd expect on the north shore.
A few points.
We weren't offered a high chair, nor could I see one around
The owner/manager (I think?) was almost yelling at a supplier over the phone at the front bar. Fair enough from what we could hear, but not right at the register at the end of the lunch rush, please!

We will definitely be back, those fish and chips were so good, but there were a few more things I want to try.

I have eaten at Catch 22 over a dozen times. Its one of the few places where you can get a late lunch e.g about 3pm and the chef is always happy to make a few small changes in what is part of a particular dish. Their sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce is as good as city greats without the city prices. To be fair, my husband thought the eye fillet was way too small for a male appetite and poor value. But I still love going there.

Being just a few metres away from our home, Catch is a regular haunt for us. Having recently been bought out by new owners, the (small but ongoing) changes are incredible. The new owners are gradually adding new things to the menu, and the chef is excellent! The service is also very good, yet the prices so far remain competitive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place stinks of stale beer - the food is definitely very ordinary, and the atmosphere was tacky - customers and staff alike were constantly yelling and swearing... apparently its changed hands now? well its been painted fluoro orange and green with a new name, and it definitely doesn't look like it has style.... this place never seemed to be busy during the day or evening, and i can definitely see why...
