Le Cafe in the Arts Centre (Old Canterbury University) near Hagley Park and the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch is a great spot. When visiting from Australia, my daughter and I had dinner here before seeing a movie in the Arts Centre next door. It is cute and quaint with an upstairs loft area and is quite cosy in winter (needed in Christchurch's winter). We had the BEST apple pie we have ever eaten here, beautifully presented and tasted divine - although the service can be a little slow, it is worth the wait, thought the food and beverage was excellent and the venue A1.
