Default Star Cafe Chinese Restaurant (Wairau Park, Glenfield)

My review is based on the dim sum / yum char served at Star Cafe Chinese Restaurant (Wairau Park, Glenfield).

We went to again last Sunday (17-Feb-08), after a long time. Only when we tasted the food and service again did we remember why we didn't bother with this restaurant for such a long time.

Food: Poor - Suspects the chef left, as most of the food are pretty tasteless compare to their previous standard. Their signature dishes like "siew mai" (pork dumplings) and "har gow" (prawn dumplings) are way below quite a number of yum char restaurant's standard.

Service: Average - Customer who speaks English would no longer have the option to choose the type of tea they prefer, instead they will be serve the "standard" Jasmine tea. When I commented this to the service person, he just put the teapot down and left without an explanation.

** Note for all yum char / dim sum customers, especially non-Chinese customers: For the price you are paying at Star Cafe Chinese Restaurant (Wairau Park, Glenfield), your tastebuds will be more thankful fif you try the yum char / dim sum at Dynasty Chinese Restaurant (57-59 Wakefield St, Auckland City).**
