Do reciprocal links hurt? I have found it very difficult to get reciprocal links compared to when I had a site back in 2004. Are search engines, specifically google, penalizing reciprocal links?

Google doesn't penalize, when you exchange links try to limit it. Don't go crazy with it. You should mix your methods when it comes to linkbuilding. So it will look natural.

No, two way links don't hurt. They are just less valuable than one way links (or open loop three way links).

Actually closed loop three way, or any linking for that matter, is good (generally). Its just that some linking methods are better than others.

yes .i appreciate that . Actually reciprocal links have less value than a 3 or 1 way links and while linking back to partner site you need to check whether your link partner site has a good potential and authority in eyes of google .If a high quality site is linking back to a low quality site then both site can be penalized .It is my experience since i have noticed drop in SERP many times if i linked to a new or low authority site. So one way links and 3 way links would be my recommendation always

Well ,your wish Michael ,i won't stop you if these links is harming your website then you are authorize person .

this isn't reciprocal links though

and yes ,if you are removing my post then please make sure that you are cleaning all the links on upper of this post with LOW Quality sites in signature since no one meet with your forum quality stranded ...am i right ?
