Default How many links do I need?

How to find out, how many links do you need to become #1?
Or at least to get in top10 in Google for some specific keywords?

Default Good SEO Software

I am new to the SEO and looking for search engine optimization tool.
I found some seo tools online but I don't know which one to choose.
http://www.webposition.com/
http://www.clicksplash.com/
http://www.seoelite.com/
Does anyone know other good seo software or recommendation?

All rather interesting packages. Personally I use the free digitalpoint keyword suggestion tool, and digitalpoint keyword tracker and manually do the work.

It is so easy to get caught up with programs that do things for you, and forget that many people have not firstly done the simple things well. Yes, use SEO Elite to find out who your competitors have linking to them and the page ranks of those pages. Yes find out the best search phrases to use relating to your website. But make sure that you actually add the search phrases to the right places on your pages so that you can rank because you actually have relevant content.

It doesn't work like that. Number of links does very little for SEO, You need quality links. Links from trusted sites and links from related sites.

There is no number that willl get you to the top of serpps..

POwerfull factors which help to rank your site in Google.

- Keyword(s) in site TITLE (also in a domain, subdomain or subdirectory). Type any keyword in Google and check bolded words in url or in site title. Example: cauliflower.

- Domain AGE You probably won't beat 5 years old site nevertheless how many backlinks you get. You can overcome 2 years old site though, I believe.

- Keywords in body text and anchor text of backlinks/internal/external links and titles of inner pages

- Relevant backlinks, which means: topic related, coming from high ranked sites (those who are listed high in Search Engines Result Pages -SERPs) which has only FEW other outgoing links already.
