Default Keyword penalty?

Is there a keyword limit for how many you can have in your meta tag?

General comment about meta keywords is that they are irrelevant, but that you might as well add them anyway.

Best to only add the words that are actually on your page.

I look forward to when Google is back to its normal self. When you can apply the basic formula and get good rankings.

I have seen snippets of msn containing the keywords, but I have not looked that seriously at the other engines till the thought that they might be worth trying specifically and the hell with Google for some sandboxed sites.

Default The Google Sandbox

New sites can sometimes take a long time to be ranked on Google. You might have an established sites that merely mentions a phrase, or puts up a page about a specific search phrase, and that page ranks high in around two days. But a new site that is all about that phrase can take months to even get in the top 1000 for that term. ie the new site has been sandboxed.

It can be 6mths to a year before a new site gets ranked for competitive terms. All of a sudden you will be ranked, and you will have done nothing different from what you have done previously.

What is worse, is that meantime your page gets 302 links into it, or gets scraper sites creating duplicate content mess, and suddenly there are other issues other than sandboxing that are penalising a site.

With the sandbox concept around, it becomes that much harder to optimise a site correctly, since you have no objective serps to know whether what you have done is enough, or too much.

I have had my main page (www.example.com) ranked fairly well for years for my two main keywords.
The last three days I am no where to be found for these two words. I checked site:example.com and it is still indexed. It seems like all my other keywords still rank the same.
The only thing I have changed on the main page is adding google analytics. I did that on sept. 28th. (I sure don't hope that have caused the change).

Is this a penalty on my ranking for those two keywords?

Just wondering Gracia, have your rankings returned to normal for your main keywords?
