Why do you all think that you need something to enable google to index your forums? I run the www.linknz.co.nz search engine and my web spider has already indexed heaps of forums into the search engine. I seem to recal reading about forums and false links in the search engine journal papers that passed between us engines but I don't see it as a problem, if a few back links are enabled if people use domain names in forum titles. If I were to put a domain name in the title of this message then it would act like a link to a search engine spider.. Anyway folks the web spider that just found your forum has just completed it's indexing so i can get back to running a search engine again. All the best Folks Dave Andrews Frin Linknz |

I start to wonder how well you know search engine optimization when I hear statements like you have made. With the standard vBulletin package there have been so many enhancements possible. Now vBulletin itself has taken my advice and made a number of my suggested enhancements for vB 3.5. It is not so much a matter of getting a site indexed by a search engine that is the issue. It is what the search engine is able to do with it once it has found the forum pages. Then certainly it also helps the search engines spider the site when the number of urls are reduced and simplified. I have applied my hacks to a number of vBulletin based websites and seen marked improvement in how each thread and forum has ranked on Google. Rankings from nothing to first in many cases. Most of the threads and forums on this website rank among the top in the world for their search phrases. Have a read of my search engine optimize vBulletin thread for details of how I have achieved it. |

Well to your question about do I understand SEO. I don't suppose that I do, quite simply because I write the search engines from the ground up. Four search engines of mine are presently answering queries around six million times a day. I just develop and implement the algorythms that you guys have to change your code to get higher rankings. In terms of web spiders I am presently developing a quasi pointed spider which takes four different views of data so that it can be more accurate when indexing making searches really accurate. The development of a full blown search engine needs heaps of planning, the code that I have written presently ranks around twenty six million web sites and web pages in four different countries. So I would imagine that I know how a web spider works and how to optimise something. I may have mistaken your chatter as a peck at my interlect but I am probably wrong, if you have found a way to increase your websites chances of being found then good luck to you. Many regards Dave Andrews |
