I was at your bar on Saturday nite and had invited friends over for the weekend from Auckland, Tauranga and Christchrch. We were at your bar and I was so embarrassed with the service of FAT BELLIES.

I am aware that it is under new management and that you will incur teething problems, BUT your staff were very sour to the partons and I wasn't the only one who was complaning (patrons standing next to me were all saying the same thing).

I had to wait 20 mins to get served when i finally was served I was told by your bar staff " sorry i cant do eftpos". What is the point of having a waiter on a busy nite, not knowing how to use eftpos which would be 70% of a paying method.

Fat Bellies used to be the only bar in Hamilton I used to go to as the atmosphere and bands are normally good, but Saturday night has put a whole new prospective on me ever going to your bar again. Please have a word to your staff and tell them to put a smile on there face and enjoy there job.

Dear Rachel and others,

Thank you for your comments posted after the weekend of the 19th of February. I would like to reply to you and offer my comments and changes that have been made to Fat Bellies since that time.

First some history. I have only had the bar since the start of Feb and took on all the existing staff. The girls who were working that night have since left Fat Bellies. I can assure you that now the new staff are a lot more friendly and happy than the previous girls employed by the previous owner. I would also like to say that I was let down on the busiest night of the year for us by 2 staff members, hence the long waits. The reason you were served by someone who did not know how to use EFTPOS was in an attempt to reduce waiting times. He is normally my door man.

I have employed 3 new bartenders, a glass collector and I work behind the bar myself most nights. We offer a fun place to drink and we have a lot of fun ourselves behind the bar. Our average waiting times are a lot less now. It would be very rare to wait longer than 5 mins for a drink. Even this would be unusual.

So please accept my apologies Rachel. I would love for you to come back to Fat Bellies one night to see the changes we have made. Make sure if you do give us another chance to make yourself known to me, Greg, the owner.

It is great to hear that you have been working hard at getting things right at Fat Bellies.

We are all allowed to have bad days and not get things right at times-even more so when its previous owners and staff that we have let go. And it sounds like you are taking the appropriate steps to get staffing sorted to get the customer experience where it needs to be.

I hope that people will now take your reply and let it all be a major positive for your establishment.

I think Fat Bellies and the new management is awesome. I had the best night I have in ages. The band and staff were great.
