Default Curry Leaf Kumeu

Average only award as the main dining area is not seperate from the main door and take-away counter.

Decor lacks ambience.

The food (banquet for 4) was outstanding and certainly not short in quantity or quality.

The service was friendly.

We have been twice so that does say something.

Thumbs down Curry Leaf Kumeu below standard

Hello fellow foodies!

Well after typing a really lengthy post, the system automatically logged me out and I lost the entire post.

Here's the short version.

Outside. Really poor, rectangle building in an expanse of gravel. No talent has been applied to mitigating the sight of the ugly building. Poorly designed and poorly maintained planting does not help. I get the impression of a DIY job gone wrong. They need professional design and implementation help.

Inside. Again no talent has been applied to the creation of intimate spaces, or general atmosphere. Just an open room with a giant counter where the manager watches you eat. Again professional design help is needed as the owners obviously do not know any better.

This area is 'going up in the world' and I feel many more sophisticated diners will stear clear due to the look of the place, and lack of quality atmosphere.

Eating in: Service is average/adequate. Food has been acceptable over about 4 visits.

Takeaway. Had a really bad experieince with sub-standard food and a confrontational attitude from the management when I tried to address this. They showed no attempt to take responsibility, and the manager said that what I claimed, "was not possible". Well it was possible and did happen. There is no such thing as a perfect kitchen or perfect chef, and the manager refused to admit they may have made a mistake, and did not come through with any recourse.

Anyway, I am local, and they have lost a lifetime of business due to the small minded attitude of the manager.

Avoid this place if want any kind of dining experience that is beyond the basics. If you just want a 'feed' then go for it, at least if you dine in and they screw up the meal they may take responsibility.

Default Back again

Went back with a group of friends known as the Turtle Club - a rowdy bunch of Westies.

The food is still good - above average.

But the place still lacks ambience and this time around there seemed to be a lack of comprenhension with one of us asking for a Woodstock and receiving a beer.

As Leah says it is not a place to take visitors from out of town to impress them but a great place to take the family, very reasonable prices and kid-friendly as well as nice take-aways.
