Having known Rohit [who started Shahi Cafe's] many years ago now... for some years I have of course eaten at his restaurants many times.

But never without giving them exactly the same expectation of value for money and requirement of respectful courteous and pleasant service, that I elect to pass on every restaurant I go to.

The Shahi Cafe in Milford is quite simply one of the most relaxed, comfortable, un-pretencious, well staffed and even more importantly - the greatest indian food you will be able to find, that I have found in my travels of not only here at home in Auckland and New Zealand - but many other countries. It's near enough to perfect.

At $44.00 for two of us absolutely well fed enough to not be able to eat desert, but having had an entree to share and two mains. We were nothing short of content.

They know what they are doing. Designing and cooking the best indian meal you will have - in a fantastic dining location with great people bringing your meals to your table.

We like Shahi, often we'll get take away from there if we're working late at the church across the road.
Try the gulab jamun, it has a finer texture than most.

Shahi Cafe is one of our favourite places when we visit the North Shore. It was often our local when we lived in Auckland,but now we are in the Wairarapa, we dont get to visit as often. When we do visit Auckland, we usually drop by for a meal. The food is always beautifully cooked. The flavours are just amazing, the service always good and freindly, efficient staff. We are due to fly up to Auckland in July and are staying on the Shore, so might just have to get our fix from Shahi!
