I went there with a group of friends to celebrate a friend's birthday. This was the very first time and although we had tried some other restaurants in the area, we decided to give Capri a chance. The first impression was not good - the waitress was sullen and did not care to smile and make us feel welcome. We brought a cake which we were told we would be charged a $2.50 corkage fee per person, we had no problem with that. We ordered pizzas & a lasagne, and it took more than 30 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant was only half full. The lasagne was tiny, about a third of the size we expected it to be. The woodfire pizzas were only average, there weren't much topppings and were salty. Even Domino's pizzas are better, for a third of the price! When I went to the counter to pay, I presented an Entertainment Book voucher for a 25% discount. The manager yelled at me and very rudely told me that 'the next time you want use this voucher, don't bring your cheese cake in here to eat, it's for dining only!' and kept repeating the same line even when I told him we had ordered their dishes. Suffice to say, he won't need to worry, because we will not be going back again, and have told friends to avoid that place. Go there to eat if you want lousy food and lousy service that isn't worth your money. The next time we crave Italian, we will be spending our hard earned cash at the other Italian restaurants in Mission Bay! |

A friend booked a table a week or so ago for the Jazz Festival night - this evening. We arrived at 8ish, for when the table was booked, but only 5 of the 6 arrive because one of us is crook. We order a glass of wine, plus a bottle, then 2 pizzas to share as some of the guests don't have too much dosh, plus one pasta dish for me . Pizzas are 20+ dollars each, as is the pasta. The wine came to $48 dollars. Then POW!, the owner or manager, not sure which, arrives at the table. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING HOLDING A TABLE FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT AND ONLY EATING PASTA AND PIZZA!" "Um, because they are on the menu, and don't forget the wine we ordered." "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE WINE, WE ARE A RESTAURANT - WE WILL MAKE A LOSS ON THIS TABLE TONIGHT!" Mmmm, with this attitude is it worth insisting on being fed? "Ok, we'll forget the food, we'll just pay for the wine" (against our better judgement). Paid and walked out. Now writing this at home waiting for the re-fried beans to heat up. |
