I only tried food from the middle eastern menu, but it was great! The lamb I had was so tender and flavoursome and the beef my partner had was of similar quality. There was plenty of food so we certainly didn't go hungry. The staff were very friendly and the bellydancer was lots of fun!

We visited Apadana on Saturday night (7 July 2007). As part of a large group were were having the set menu. For what we received for our $40pp this was grossly overpriced. Entrees consisted of very small antipasto and seafood platters, followed by the choice of 6 mains. I opted for Pollo Camembert. The chicken was overcooked - tough, stringy texture. The desserts served on a platter for six were a single sized serving of cheesecake, a small polenta muffin and over-baked baklava cut in a number of different shapes. After paying $2.50 each for corkage, regardless of whether you drank wine or not, and $8.50 for a double spirit and coke, this was an expensive night out when we went away still hungry and far from satisfied. We won't be going back - which is a pity because the atmosphere does lend itself to big groups.

| The restaurant itself was clean and had a fairly good atmosphere. I’d rate the food as average to mediocre - The chicken I had was too dry. We were served by someone who appeared to be the owner or manager as he ordered other people around (without much respect). Unfortunately he wasn’t setting a very good example. He seemed to be put-out in response to any request, including asking for more water - which was warm and obviously straight out of the tap. The restaurant was about one quarter capacity, yet it took over an hour and a half between entrees and the main course. I went as part of a birthday dinner group of about 10 so we had to order from a set menu – the set menu (with a set price of $40) advertised a belly-dancer as part of the package, yet no belly-dancer ever materialized. The waiter bought us the wrong bottle of (white) wine to what we ordered (red) – lucky for him the bottle he gave us and put on the table was still sealed! When it was mentioned to him politely, his response implied that it was of course our fault. The arrival of the main course spanned about 20 minutes between the first and the last which is about 15 minutes too long I’d say. And to top things off, we were told “politely” if we had finished because the dishwasher wanted to go home. I guess I didn’t get food poisoning so that’s something good, right? |

Today was mothers day and so i took my mum out for dinner and decided to go to Apadana remembering a pleasant experience from before. anyways so as we stepped in the man led us to our table of our choice, nothing was on our table for a few minutes and nothing was coming, so i walked over to the guy and asked for menus and he sed its coming, after waiting another minute or so of nothing this lady came wit drinks and menus. why does it take so long to bring two cups and water and 2 menus? then we after a long time after another waiter came and took our orders.evrything happened so slowly and time was wasted. food finally came, without cutlery which we had to wait for until the waiter served other customers. so we were left there without cutlery but food for a bit. our candle wasnt lit which should be common sense to light wen i customer sits down to the table. and throughout the night the service was very very poor. after we had our dinner we went to pay, the man was at the counter but was doing his own thing and we were there waiting to pay. customers came in and not even mentioning an 'excuse me,' he served them first, talked to some staff members THEN used the eftpos. he told us to swipe, but since i kno how to use it, i knew he shud hav taken the card, swiped it, then presed the amount. but he made it look like it was our fault that the process was wrong, he didnt even ask for the card and told us to swipe. he handed us the reciept but dropped it before we cud grab it, then he handed it bak to us as if it was our fault again. and wen we were leaving, we didnt get a good bye or a thank you or ANYTHING. I WAS APALLED by the worse service ive ever recieved in a restaurant. my first impression was good, but really.. especially on mothers day, with my mum, i was very very disatisfied and disappointed. im never going there again. |

Apadana is a decent Persian themed restaurant on Auckland's Dominion Road. They claim to be a Mediterranean restaurant, but seem to focus predominately on Persian and Turkish cuisine, with some Italian, and ignore the other Mediterranean countries. Apadana is a decent place to meet up with a group of friends for a meal and a good chat. The quality of their food is fair, and quantities are ample. They are reasonably affordable so should be able to cater to everyone's budget. The quality of service was good at the start of the night, but got poorer once the night wore on and the regular waiting staff had left.
