Angry Never to return again

A cafe trying to be an evening restaurant and not succeeding. No drinks licence with small and cramped tables. They appeared to be trying to fit too many people into a very small space. Needless to say, the service as a result was the worst I have ever experienced.

Our experience: The waitess delivered the wrong meals to the table. We didn't notice immediately as we were talking and because most of the order was the same as ours, however after about 30 seconds we did notice and immediately informed the waitress and apologised for not noticing as soon as the food was delivered . In return for our apology the waitress was rude and abrupt and asked us 3times whether we had touched the food. Each time she asked she was getting more and more rude and it was obvious she did not believe our answer. She snatched the food from the table without saying a word and gave it to the people on the next table. She then proceeded to glare at us from behind the bar for the remainder of the evening and talked about us to colleagues who then also stared over. By the time we recieved the correct meals we were feeling extremely uncomfortable in the cafe so ate as much as we could and left immediately . This experience completely ruined our evening. The food we received was expensive for the quality of meal served and also some choices on the menu were not available.

My advice to the manager of Frasers would be stick to serving coffee and cake and employ staff with some degree of customer service skills. My advice to potential customers would be to eat somewhere else on an evening out in Mount Eden.

Frasers also refuse to take bookings which I've found to be really annoying.

I am looking for somewhere to organise breakfast for a colleague, there will be 6 of us and since a few of us live in the St Lukes/Mt Eden/Mt Albert area we thought we'd go to Frasers. I phoned them and the guy I spoke to was REALLY rude. Told me that if we wanted to secure a table on a Friday morning (7.30am) then someone would have to turn up at least 15 minutes prior to grab a table - if there was one to grab. I told him I couldn't run that risk, so he advised that perhaps someone turn up 30 minutes prior.

When I asked why they don't take reservations I got this snotty reply "because we don't need to".

If they continue to treat their customers the way they do then they won't have any customers left!

They've certainly lost my custom.

Wink Ode to Joy

I can see why you guys did not like Frasers - it is not a restaurant and it has a distinctive atmosphere that will not impress those looking for a standard restaurant experience. This is just a local cafe that happens to have a really cool chef who can turn out above average fare. It is a barn of a room that in all honesty is beautiful in the morning but has little appeal in the dark of a winters night.

The food is just down right good - not restaurant food, but really well prepared cafe fare, and we are not talking toasted paninis here. The breakfast menu is a joy, though in the last couple of years the cakes have lost a little honesty and now tend to look better than they taste.

This is the sort of place to spend a morning reading magazines and enjoying the menu - it is casual, comfy, arty and that is something to be grateful for.

And finally having observed the clientele over the years I can say that it is one of the very few places in Auckland that attracts such a mixed crowd - but never pretentious. Keep it real Frasers.

Stanley, Im glad your experience with Frasers is much better than mine however I must say that my gripe with Frasers isn't really with the food, I simply have a huge problem with the quality of service that I received. In a nutshell the service I received is by far the worst that I have ever come across and I cannot reiterate this enough. There is no excuse for rudeness towards customers and I will not tolerate this from any establishment. I would rather spend my money in an establishment that knows how to treat the customer.

Me and my American guest went to Frasers to taste their Eggs Benedict (which used to be great a few years ago).
It was Waitangi day, so 2 Eggs Benedict with bacon came to over $40 because they were charging us for the public holiday service.
The meal came with no other sauce than Hollandaise so it was really dry, too yolky and quite frankly, a bit sickening.
They used to provide great service and even though the meals were pricey, they would add extra stuff to the meal to make it more special.
Now, it seems like they've put the prices up, and only serve ingredients that are listed on the menu.

It was very disappointing and I would never go back to Frasers for another meal.
