Angry Terrible Service

I've never been particularly impressed by Dennys New Lynn, except for the fact that they're open 24 hours, which is standard anyway. But tonight was the absolute worst restaurant experience I've had - anywhere. And being a busy 20+ year old lady, I don't have much time on my hands to cook at home, therefore I've seen my fair share of restaurants.

Here's my story - my boyfriend & I came in at 9.20pm and gave our order to the waiter who I'll call Twiddle-Dum at about 9.30pm. An hour later (and still no meals), he wanders over to us and asks me if I was okay (since by then, I was quite agitated and undoubtedly looked the part) - I asked how much longer our food was going to take, and he asks "You're just waiting for your dessert, right?". I didn't know whether to slap him or laugh hysterically. I did neither. I got up, and looked for the manager. The manager, then blames the whole thing to "the computer system" and I'm thinking to myself, fair enough, computer systems can be unreliable. But the restaurant was half empty (now I know why), therefore surely SOMEONE who worked for the restaurant should have checked on us by then?

In a nutshell, it was an appalling experience, ruined what had been a great day & will be a story I'll be telling a whole lot of people.....

Angry Denny's New Lynn BOOOOOO

The service is terrible. They will make customers wait a long time while the restaurant is only half full. The food also lacks in quality. The staff also seem to be very unhappy to be there.
Not a pleasent dinning experience.

Food is value for money........ when it finally reaches the table. I have had similar experiences to the other reviewers where they have 'lost' your order and you wait up to over an hour waiting for your food. Wouldn't recommend going if your famished, however if you can wait you'll be please with the size of your meal.

Me and my wife went to Dennys as we heard about the free meal on your birthday.
It isn't a cheap restaurant, it isn't an outstanding restaurant, it is what you would expect when you see the decor; it is an average family restaurant.
The staff are not all happy, the food is not fast, and the prices are O.K.

We ordered the Cajun Fish, which was surprisingly tasty, but not exciting, and the Chicken Lasagne, a little bland and unimaginative but as exactly as expected so was perfect! The meals were bigger than the picture, so we were actually happy.

Well worth going for lunch or dinner with your loved one on your birthday as your meal and drink will be free, and then it is a cheap dining experience that is different from your average place.

This restaurant is based loosely on the American concept, and is a family restaurant by nature and look. Staff are recruited from university so lack intelligence, skill, or care, so keep an eye on your waiter and poke them till they react (they owe you nothing, so feel free to pressure them for results; not too much as the mayo might taste a little salty if you are too mean).

We expected a noisy family environment that felt like we were in a Disney movie, and we got it.
As you wait for your food talk and watch the other customers, and discuss why the waitress at the other tables looks so angry (I find if you make up an internal dialogue for her it makes the night fun!).

Once your meal price is halved it's a great experience for fun, this is not a serious restaurant, and I think dining at Dennys is not intended as anything more then a theme-park of food establishments.

Angry Dinning At Dennys New Lynn - Don't Waste Your Time, Money & Petrol

Dinner at Dennys Restaurant on Wednesday 13 August was a complete disappointment. We went to Dennys to enjoy a quick family meal with our daughter as it was her birthday. The only good thing was our waiter was very polite. I made a booking for 6 Adults and 2 Children for 6.30pm. We arrived at 6.35pm - table wasn't ready. 5mins later we proceed to our table. All menus were for adult meals. I then find a waiter so i could get a childrens menu. Our meal and drink order was taken by 6.45pm - great. Our first round of drinks arrived by 6.55pm - great. 7.10pm drinks are empty no sign of a waiter and no sign of meals 7.15pm - still no waiter and still no meals Approached the manager who sent us a waiter. Drinks arrived at 7.20pm. Still no meals 7.30pm - 45 minutes later our first lot of meals arrive - FIRST LOT!! THEY SHOULD ALL ARRIVE AT THE SAME TIME Burger meal, satay kebabs (where's the side of chips?), and two surf & turf arrive - steak wasn’t hot nor are the chips, seconds later the t bone steak arrives cold and well done (where's the side order of chips?) - meal is sent back as I ordered HOT food and medium rare T Bone Meal is returned in minutes - most likely the same vegetables on the plate. 7.40pm Cajun fish arrives along with the side of chips for the satay kebabs and T Bone steak (10mins after main meal was served) I approach the manager for find out where the last two meals are. I'm told its coming next - so is xmas. 7.45pm Childrens meal arrives - 1 hour later By this time the first 5 people had finished their meal 7.55pm OVER 1 HOUR LATER!!! our final meal arrives - Spicy Chicken Salad. By this stage I'm furious. My daughter’s birthday dinner was a disaster as Dennys couldn't even provide us with all our meals hot and at the same time and compensation was a free dessert! OUTRAGEOUS! I wasn't going to stick around waiting for that to arrive!!nor did i think it was an appropriate offer for all the errors made. I demanded a deduction from our bill which i was hoping would be at least the last two meals. I was compensated the Spicy Chicken Salad as i was told it was late because the kitchen made the wrong salad - WHAT it takes 70mins to make a salad, 60 mins to make a children's fish & chips, 50 mins to make Cajun fish, chips & salad - rediculous? NEVER WILL I EVER PROMOTE DENNYS NOR WILL I EVER RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE GO TO THE NEW LYNN RESTAURANT. The restaurant wasn't even busy that night - not that that's any excuse. There were 3 waiters and the manager waiting the floor and still the service was slack.

In the end we went to McCafe for dessert - which i don't mind saying we got 8 HOT desserts it in 5mins - with coffee!

Took daughter there today for her 35th birthday lunch. Waited a long time but when entree came the satay was dry and dark (sauce was nice) waited 45 mins for the main. Veges came when meal almost finished. Diabetic at table was not allowed to have chips replaced with veges or salad. Drinks ordered never turned up and when we went to pay the bill and said about the drinks, she very of handedly replied 'yeah I know the lemonade machine broke down' uhm....could you not tell us so we could select something else? There was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Staff unfriendly for a family dining place. Now I know what 24 hours open, it takes that long to serve if many there we shall not be going back, a waste of money and spoiled a birthday lunch.

Angry Don't Even Think About Going Here!!!!!

This so-called Family Restaurant was the most horrible experience ever. The staff couldn't care less with one staff walking around constantly blowing their nose in the actual restaurant while serving food!!!!! This of course ended up with a bit of "nose gremlin" on the serviette that was wrapped around my knife and fork I was to use with my main meal - I got the feeling the manager didn't take me for real when I showed him!!!!!
