Default Lonestar

I was excited by the opening of Lonestar in New Lynn. Friends had raved about the food at other branches, and more friends had raved about the food at this one. So I was fully expecting a fantastic meal. I'd heard the portion sizes were enormous (they were indeed, far more than a girl really needs, with no hope of fitting in a dessert).

Unfortunately, the ambience of the place left a lot to be desired. The wooden floor, high ceiling and too loud music made speaking to my dining partner, nigh impossible. Perched opposite each other on a small round table, he could not hear my normal speaking volume, it was simply too noisy.

The other thing I'd change, was the steak that I had ordered, came with an enormous pat of garlic butter on it. I knew there was going to be garlic, but I didn't expect 200gs of butter. If you were thinking steak and salad was a diet conscious meal, you could think again.

The waiting staff were bubbly, helpful, and attentive. The food was delicious (once all the butter was removed) and serving sizes were very generous and well in keeping with the prices. It's not the cheapest place in West Auckland to dine, but it's good value for what you receive.

However the dining partner was unimpressed enough to not want to go back, not even for the pork ribs.
