Phoned through an order for pickup, on order 1 x Chicken tikka masala medium hot, 3 x na'an bread. advised ready in 15mins - this is extremely dubious as anything that is ready within 15minutes is obviously a reheat. Arrived, the decor is very dark, almost foreboding. I was served quickly and efficiently order came to $26.90 - price is good, I get home, i am pleasantly surprised to find 2 veggie samosa's in here - until i find out that i have in fact been billed for them as well. So they get a zero for attention to detail as i never ordered these, nevertheless they are tasty. The naan bread is of a good quality and the garlic is fresh with a even spread across the bread. The Chicken Tikka Masala, well - where to start, the dish itself has a very mild aromatic to it, hmmmm not good. The dish itself calls for premarinated pieces of chicken - the chicken, all 7 small pieces was of poor quality, 1 had an almost gristley taste to it, definitely not marinated and - definitely unimpressed about the dish itself, a watery misture of what can only be described as store bought sauce on a bed of tired old chicken. very unimpressed. Again, go visit shahi restaurant on aucklands north shore, you'll see what it takes to be number 1 in auckland. Food 2/10 Cleanliness 7/10 (very dark - unable to see much of the restaurant) Staff Presentation 7/10 Attention to detail 0/10 |

Restaurant is now called "Flame" which is interesting, the decor hasnt changed much. Phoned thru an order for 1 x butter chicken, hot and 1 x Chikken tikka masala, hot - 4 x naan breads and 2 servings of vege samosa's. Arrived 15 minutes later, order was hot and ready to go, I must say - the presentation has definitely improved. eating it when we got home, the naan's not so sure about still much the same, not much has changed there. Veggie samosa's were obviously microwaved and not fresh. This is not good, as it leaves more of the hot microwave taste than it does anything else. The tamarind sauce for the samosas was nice though. The main dishes werent too bad, have to say that they were hot and spicy but not silly hot where u cant feel your throat. The dishs were nice and the rice obviously fresh as well. marked improvement overall. $58.90 is somewhat excessive for a takeaway meal, its a pity the prices weren't a bit cheaper as we would eat here more often. Food 7/10 - let down by microwaved samosas Cleanliness 7/10 - again, very dark hard to tell. Staff Presentation 8/10 - very well dressed Attention to detail 10/10 - we got exactly what we asked this time |
