Movie and a Meal in a mature part of Auckland’s North Shore Now you could judge the Sausalito just as the café – or – as part of an experience. If you are going to indulge in an airline’s “plastic lunch”, you need to fly and we are judging the Sausalito in a similar fashion Located in the same building as the Bridgeway, an outstandingly intimate bouquet cinema, the décor could be described as postwar-ish, wooden tables complete with those horrible (but given the era, eminently suitable) twisted glass and chrome sugar dispensers. And so, off we went to the 11.00 screening of the excellent “De-Lovely” (with coffee to go). After the movie finished we were short of time but just could not resist having lunch. Leah had the roast vege tower and I had the Caesar salad both with the addition of garlic and rock salt breads. When we had finished our meal and really short of time, our waitress convinced us to have coffee anyway – so we did! Friendly staff and crisp service crisp with no delays. We were late home but didn’t care. If you have never ventured to Northcote Point, do so. It is well worth the trip and there is nothing like gazing into the wood-burning pizza oven..

| Water rating: * (1 star) Warm - Tap water (See below) We went back about a month ago - the place was full to overflowing, so we opted for plan B (Wenderholm and the Sahara in Orewa). Returned last night for a meal and the movie 'Ray'. The service, once again, was crisp, effecient and friendly. We were looked after by a lovely waitress who made us welcome and saw to all our needs. Leah had the Lime Chicken Caesar - she thought that the "subtle flavours" went just a wee bit far as it was rather tasteless but good for her diet she reckons. I had the Greek Pizza (and Leah's anchovies). As yummie as the waitress said it would be. The one complaint was the bottle of water that arrived - warm! We requested some ice which duly arrived. Ug! - Thinks we may have to start educating establishments on how to serve water. I have started a water-rating from now on. Just for giggles.<O Oh and we never made 'Ray". Went for a beach walk instead..
