Congratulations Joust Restaurant!!!

Orewa restaurant Joust Beach Bar & Restaurant was selected Overall Winner – Restaurant Category and also took the honour for Best Service.

Its menu comprised of an entrée called Rodney’s Stalked Venison: Venison loin in Parma ham on sweet potato and ginger ragout with chilli jam and chocolate oil, which was beer-matched with Celtic. Joust’s second course was Drowned Coastie Duck: Confit duck leg on fondant potato, home-grown baby carrots and turnips, tomato fondue and aniseed jus accompanied with the lime driven Monteith’s Radler.

Tyack said the judges found Joust staffers were knowledgeable about the menu, presented and served the beer expertly, and took a uniquely wild approach to the matches. Particularly impressive was the chocolate in the venison dish which the judges loved.

We called in for a quick mains course on the way home early one evening. I ordered the Lamb Shanks and was impressed. The whole dish was well presented, the flavours tantalising, and the meat just melted in my mouth. Delicious. Well done Joust. I shall be calling in again.

Always professional, always friendly and the food rocks... Probably the only upmarket place to dine out in Orewa.. WELL DONE

The first time I went to Joust it was very very noisy as there was a party in the back room...and all we could hear was the boom boom of the music. But the food was magnificent!
The second time... over the New Year break was far more dissapointing... the girl serving us was difficult to catch the attention of... she was too busy chatting with the other staff... it became tiresome by the end of the evening. I got the wrong meal... husband didn't get his meal until I was half way through mine... although his was very nice as was the desserts and coffees.... so I have very mixed feeling about the place.

JOUST WAS TERRIBLE! The evening started out bad when my family of 11 were squished around 3 tables in the corner. We then found two beetles in two separate dishes, a cockroach on the dessert table, and to make it even worse the manager brushed it off and refused to give us a discount! Very disappointed, ruined mums birthday.
