Add your review of Sahara Tent Cafe & Restaurant and be part of the fun Contact Details Sahara Tent Cafe & Restaurant (Orewa) 336 Hibiscus Coast Highway Orewa Ph: 09 4268828 What a nice surprise. We went to Wenderholm for a walk on the beach but after sunset the chill set in. So I suggested we have a spa at Waiwera but at $30.00+ each flagged that. Woody's Bar & Grill opposite the hot pools were not serving food at that time on night (We will return there as the place looks quite cosy). So off to Orewa and spied Sahara. Despite being rather late-ish at night, we were welcomed and made to feel at home and told the full menu range was still available. Our waitress, Aliene, was fantastic. Nothing was a problem. A slightly damp napkin meant that all napkins and cutlery were replaced. That's caring. A big thank you from both of us. Not being ravenous we had very nice bread and dips, Leah having the chicken salad (on Ailene's advice) and that was "to die for". I had the Greek salad (upgraded from a starter to a main for $3.00 and it filled me up so much I could not eat it all. No deserts were had but they did look tempting.... We had the Turkish coffee to finish with an apology from the manager that the chef had finished by this time so it was not made in the correct manner. We will definitely return. We rate Sahara "Very Good" with an excellent menu, friendly and caring service and a nice setting.

I went wanting something Middle Eastern or similar... I got a Moroccan Chicken I think it was called with a HUGE dollop of goey icky rice... other than that the food was nice but not fantastic... which is what we all want when we go out for a meal...right?? The Belly dancer was lovely and made up for the icky rice |

We went to Orewa beach for just a nice walk and discovered a nice restaurant with a nice menu, friendly staff and prices which did not put in hole in our pockets. Sahara has certainly hit the right spot for the whole family. I thoroughly enjoyed my Steak and my lady couldn't stop going on about here stuffed baked chicken. The kids just had the fish and chips. For dessert we had Creme Caramel with our coffee and the kids had ice cream with a bit of complimentary chocolate cake. I must stress on how friendly the staff were. Very family oriented and extremely good on the prices, specially the wines. GO TEAM SAHARA! We will definitely visit you regularly now. |
