We decided we wanted to eat takeaway Chinese food and, as we are new to the area did an Internet search. We were offered 2 choices, one of which was the Rainbow Chinese Restaurant. Once I found the place (tucked in next to Paraparaumu airport) I went in and asked for a takeaway menu. I was presented with a scrappy piece of photocopied paper with a list of dishes. The staff were very friendly and keen to please.

Among other dishes, I ordered an item not on the menu, which the restaurant was happy to prepare for me. When I got our order home I was pleased to see the size of the portions, which was excellent considering the reasonable prices.

The food was hot, but uninspiring and relatively tasteless. I did notice that the hygiene certificate on the wall was only a B, which is unsurprising given the look and feel of the place.

I may try the takeaway again, but wouldn't make the same menu choices again.
