Dropped in for a takeout pizza Boxing Day Eve. With the number of dining horror stories abounding about this establishment and a couple of personal bad experiences here, the only reason we were there was that nowhere else on Ponsonby Road was open. We noted that there was a 20% public holiday surcharge. We wouldn't have minded paying if there had in fact been adequate staff on. Waited 50 minutes for our pizza which was a somewhat disgusting specimen and gave me a bad stomach the entire following day. Definitely won't be going back again.

I dined at One Red Dog in Ponsonby probably a year ago and vowed never to go back there.

I ordered a Calzone and asked to exclude onion as I am allergic.

It was a busy night and the meals took forever. When it finally turned up I inspected my meal and found that they'd put a relish in the Calzone that was FULL of onion!

When I finally managed to flag down a passing waitress she didn't really want to know about my problem. I told her I would get VERY sick if I ate the onion in the Calzone ... her response was something along the lines of "so what do you want me to do about it?". I told her that she would have to take it back. By this time my friend had finished her meal and I had lost my appetite. The waitress made up for their faux pas by giving me a bowl of fries as a substitute for the meal I ordered. Oh WOW!

When we went to pay she told me that she wouldn't charge me for the Calzone (how big of her I thought) or the fries ...

I left the restaurant feeling rightly ripped off.
