Default References/case studies of SEO vBulletin installations

With the ever increasing number of SEO vBulletin installations, it seemed a good idea to have a more formal place for people to share about the success they have had with the Search Engine Optimize vBulletin hacks.

So here we go, place links to your forums so people can see the hacks in action.

All thanks messages can be added here.

If you have any before and after stats - traffic, rankings on the search engines etc it would be great to hear from you.

Default www.ezliving.com/forum

I not only installed the SEO vBulletin hack, but also dynamically added the data to the www.ezliving.com/forum/.

Each of the sites pages are generally first on Google for their search phrases without specific external links to each of those pages. The only links at this time to the forum are those from the main www.ezliving.com pages.

From 7 Feb 2005 to 11 April 2005, 457 pages have been found by Google out of around 570 main pages.

We are tracking rankings on Google, Yahoo and MSN (Digitalpoint keyword tracker). It is interesting that Google found the pages and ranked them top, then MSN with top rankings, but as at 11 April 2005, Yahoo has not found the forum pages yet. Yahoo consistently seems slower off the mark on a number of websites I have tracked.

A job well done.

Thumbs up

I can't say enough about how well these hacks work. It doesn't do them justice to call the "hacks". This is how vBulletin should be optimized. I've managed to come in 1st in my category and I don't believe Google has even conducted a slow crawl since the work has been completed. I have a lot of work on my homepage to keep up with the forum optimization. I've learned so much from this forum. Kudos to TD2Man. The proof is in the results. I'm amazed at the short term results. I can hardly wait until the changes really take hold.

Thanks so much.
Chris

Some days ago I installed some of your hacks and they work fine. Thank you very much for the great work !

Because of having over 450 000 indexed pages (google) (many archive pages) I decided to redirect the archive threads to the original threads in VBulletin.
Example :
http://www.emuenzen.de/forum/archive/index.php/t-10031.html is redirected to http://www.emuenzen.de/forum/showthread.php?t=10031
What do you think about this modification ?

Now I am waiting for the PR - boost to my subpages / threads

BTW: I figured out that the google crawler does not care about the robots.txt.

Details of my site:
Domain : www.emuenzen.de
VBulletin: 3.0.7 german
Topic: Coin collecting
Members : >22000
Unique visitors per day : >6000
PageRank (homepage of the forum): PR 6

Greetings from germany,
T. Honscha

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate hearing about the hack being used on a forum as big as yours. A compliment

The redirect sounds a very wise idea, means that the archive pages don't stay around forever on Google. Once the hack gets transformed to being a url rewrite, this concept becomes even more important

Can you post the specifics of the hack on the main Search Engine Optimize Vbulletin thread, and I will make mention of it on the first page of the thread, or integrate it into the applicable part of the hack.

I understand about the robots.txt - a pain. The next method is to put rel=nofollows on the links mentioned in the robots.txt - another day.

Hello All

Yesterday, i completed implementation of wonderful SEO vBulletin suggested by T2Dman. I have been always fascinated by his posts in various forums on SEO vbulletin and so finally i decided to go for it.

I must congratulate T2Dman for offering his hacks so generously to everybody free of charge. It was simply fascinating applying the hacks, i must add...

The most interesting part of my implementation is that i have also earlier successfully implemeted mod-rewrite hack done on another forum so basically the idea of implementing both these hacks on vBulletin always sounded Rocking. The only drawback in mod-rewrite hack is that its not as comprehensive as is the case with gr8 SEO hack by t2dman.

And, i would humply request t2dman to please think about dedicating some of his precious time on mod-rewritting vBulletin. (Please!)

You can check out SEO vBulletin implementation on my forums by visiting here --> http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/sikhphilosophy/ ... although some the of implementation is pretty generic and i would continue to concentrate on improving the implementation with the passage of time.

Thankyou T2Dman

Enjoy !!

(Dear T2Dman, i would bother you from time to time to pursuade you in mod-rewritting vbulletin. )

Thanks Neutral Singh

I PM'ed you with a few pointers. It looks like I now have the ear of one of the developers of vB. A few of the hacks have been done on the latest 3.5 at vB.

I have no idea whether they will do all the hacks, but I am trying hard to convince them, and in doing so, do myself partially out of a job. But it is for the good of all that I am after.

However, they will not be doing the url rewrite, so my next claim to fame will be the url rewrite for the vb 3.5 in the comprehensive style that I have done the current hack. So watch this space - I suggest that you subscribe to the main Search Engine Optimize vBulletin thread
