Have another go. I have clarified the post for members.php.

Looks like you added a lot more code for members.php?

Ok, guess what my next question is? What pages need editing for post 6 and the top of post 7

Cheers!

Both are in the templates - no php on the end of the files to change gives the clue, plus you can see that the code is not php.

Thank you for being patient with me. I am slightly confused by post 7 in the last snippet of code you say to make the change in forumdisplay.php but above that you say in pagenav template.

Also, if its in forumdisplay.php, where exactly do I add or replace?

Cheers!

Great, I think I finally got there!!

Take a look for yourself at Small Business Talk . I still need to go through it and reword the descriptions and metatags etc but I think I'm about there with your code. You will be relieved I'm sure

Thanks for your help! Much appreciated.

Default Care needed

Its good having someone else using the hacks. Means that I get to clarify everything that much more. Sorry that you have had such trouble.

It looks like you have taken the

http:/forum.time2dine.co.nz/showpost.php?p=98&postcount=2

a little too literally. "your meta data information " was meant to be the actual meta information, not the words "your meta data information ". That particular post was to provide alternate meta data for different forums.

I have now amended the post.

Regarding the "firstwords". The paragraph needs to be min 135 characters long (See the Google snippet's length) with the search phrase repeated twice within that paragraph. What I do is provide a generic paragraph, that I insert the thread title into. Sometimes that generic paragraph is not appropriate across all forums. In that case, either use the formula I have described, or use the parent/child template setup.

I suggest that you add a link to each site map to the footer of your pages - the site map for each forum which has the links to the actual threads on it. Means that you get the best PR distribution to the actual threads.

You also dont have similar threads turned on - these are really great for PR distribution and also help with giving indented results on Google

Default removing "threadid=" from email notifications

Along with the strict "google optimization" is also "user optimization". While I have changed all instances of thread references to "t=", the emails received also include the reference to "threadid=".

Therefore, go to the:
  • admin section
  • Languages and Phrases
  • Search in phrases
  • search for "threadid="

Change the following from threadid= to t=
    • [digestthread]
    • [digestthreadbit]
    • [moderator]
    • [reportbadpost]
