Dont miss the calamari and the veal masala.

We love Italians. Their service and food selections are second-to-none and you are always sated.

We went to the Botticelli last night after deciding to try a different restaurant, we had debated going back to the Aubergine.

Certainly rates at the bottom of all the Italian establishments we have been to.

Service was aloof and distant or as Leah put it - Indifferent!
We were not really acknowledged when we arrived.
There was no menu displayed so had to go inside to ask for one which was passed to us without comment.
When we asked if there was a table available for us we were just pointed in the direction of one and left us to it.

No water supplied.

The meals were bland and unimaginative, certainly lacking the Italian richness.

Of the four of us, only Leah's son rated a direct question as to how his meal was, afterwards.

The prices were reasonable, setting was okay but just lacked that character-appeal which is something we go for, being quite personal to us. We don't plan on going back.

Afterwards, walking past Akdeniz (and live music) I wished we had gone there.

Another point I just thought of:
Leah asked for a glass of house red.
The dismissive way she was informed "WE don't (have or do) house wines was almost insulting in its delivery.

that is such a shame, we have always had a good meal there , but have to agree that on rare occasions the service has been a little surly and inattentive.
seems like you might have struck one of these.
Akendiz has always been good, especially for a quik meal before the movies and lately we have been frequenting GPK in Taka which is always good ( but no doubt the imbecile "chef" will rubbish them both as well ) .
And the best Italian style meal we have had lately has been at Felice in Ponsonby... long way from home, but becoming a favourite.

What a shocker. We have been to this restaurant twice before and the service was "OK". However, this time, my partner and I went for her 35th birthday armed with a nice bottle of french bubbly.

So we walk in and proceed to the counter (we had already booked). The person behind the counter was so busy txt her mates she didnt even notice us at first. We were then taken to the table (which was more wobbly than I can describe) and our bubbly is taken away to be opened. Anyway, five minutes later the bottle hasnt arrived back. In the meantime, other guests have walked in, sat down, handed over their wine and had it opened. So I ask a staff member could we please have our wine opened. She bascially ignored me and went on her merry way. So I wait another five minutes and walk up to the counter to find our bubbly sitting on a workbench out the back getting warm. So I say to the girl at the counter can you pleeeeeeeeaaaseeeee arrange for that bottle of ours to be opened and delivered to our table. I proceeded back to the table. Five minutes later, no wine, still sitting in the same place, so I tell me partner we are leaving. I walk up to the counter and ask for my wine back. I tell two staff why we are leaving. No apology or anything!!!!!! Just blank dumb looks on two girls faces who just didnt give a toss.

In the end, we came across the head waitress outside (still txt away to her mates) and told her that we had just experienced the WORST service I have ever come across int he last 10 years of dinng ( and we dine a lot). She said oh come back in come back in we will be good now...what an absolute joke. We will never go back to this place. In the end we walked up the road to Mint and were treated like a King and Queen.

The food is great! Haven't had a problem with the service.
