A group of 4 dined at Churchills recently. We arrived at 7pm, and were seated at a table in the middle of the room. I ducked out to pick up my girlfriend. I was gone about 15 minutes, and in that time, the wine which was ordered before I left still had not arrived at the table.

A short while later, the open wine bottle was plonked on the table by a waitress. She walked away, so we poured for ourselves.

The entree we ordered, (the deep fried camenbert pieces) took half an hour to arrive. It was placed on the table, but without any plates. When we asked for plates we were told that they had no clean ones left!

The mains we ordered took another hour to arrive, by which time we were seriously considering leaving. When they arrived, they were mostly cold, and one meal was wrong anyway. They tasted like food that had been zapped in the microwave - you know, kinda rubbery.

When asked how our meal was, we told the waitress that we weren't that impressed with the cold meals and the long wait times. She blamed the chef, and gave us a 10% discount on the meal bill. Still felt ripped off though.

We left at 9:30 (over 2 hours waiting for a cold, rubbery meal) - and proceeded to Paper Moon in Takapuna where we knew that we could get a delicious dessert and a decent service.
