I have been visiting Woodturners Cafe for many years now. It is in a lovely locaction and very convienient for me to meet people there who come to the area from Auckland.I have recommended the cafe to many many people over a number of years. I have overlooked the pretty average food quality and strangely unfriendly service because I enjoyed the environment. Today after being there for about an hour the owner rudely spoke to me requesting that I move to an outside table if other people needed to sit at the tables inside!! The reason stated was that I sit there for hours and only have 1 coffee. That is entirely untrue. I have spent a lot of money on food there over the years, and so have the other people I have met there. What gets me is that the owners have no appreciation of loyalty to their cafe or feel the need to be polite and friendly to regular customers who have shown their support. I have spent similar time in cafes all over the world and felt that I was a valued customer. But not at Woodturners!!!! |

| I'm sorry Cilla, but i beg to differ. I have been going to the woodturners cafe for some years also. I have found the staff and service warm and welcoming. The aroma of the cafe when you walk in is devine. I would recommend their corn fritters or cottage pie and the rhubarb and coconut cake is to die for. The coffee is always true to it's word "Real Coffee". Feeding the donkeys and pigs is such an experiece for my children who don't see this in auckland. Kind Regards Sally |

This is a fine NZ cafe - good food, good coffee, good service. You can have a bad experience anywhere, Cilla, but that doesn't make it an awful place. Happily, it is consistently a very good place!
