Barossa Restaurant We have dined here for many years, and the service and food has generally been reliably good. Don't go near their shellfish! We are serious foodies and have had some shockers. Frozen oysters! Huh? They (as anybody knows) turn to mush when they defrost. Mussels used to be ok but over a number of more recent tries they were very tired indeed. Fish and chips are reliable if you want something different, usually very good batter. We will probably give them a try again occasionally, (NEVER SHELLFISH! their 'preparation' was so basically bad to be unforgiveable!). Also there are other more reliable places locally, Tobys being at the top of the list. Main thing that put us off? Personal hygene problems with the gentleman whom we think is either the owner or Maitre De. A very pleasant gentleman but not nice when he leans over the table. That happened on too many occasions so.............. It is also noisy because of the wooden floors, and cigarette smoke drifts in from the 'outside' area. Most objectionable. We last visited probably around November 05, gave it a last chance, nope. |
