[Parau Foodies]

We were regular visitors to this restaurant when it was under the previous management, probably at least one evening meal a month plus the occasional breakfast. Our first visit since the changeover, mid December 05 saw us leave before ordering a meal. The menu just did not appeal. Our only qualified comment we can make is that it seems to be empty during the busy times, (weekends) while the Hardware Cafe across the road is bursting at the seams. We will try again in a few weeks perhaps.

So we have the first negative review, but it sounds like they are trying hard, and should become as popular as the Hardware Cafe across the road. All the best to you guys.

I have been to Takahe several times in the last few months, they have now changed the menu again, and this offers more selection than before. Service was friendly, food was delicious, and the wine menu is great! Would recommend to anyone.

well.... finally we have a restaurant in Titirangi that accually makes an effort with the food and service. we love this place and highly recommend it.
Both Barrosa and Hardware have no passion for high quality service ( the last 3 coffees have been cold and they heat their packet pancakes in the microwave)
If there are any bad reviews for Takahe it is because the quality of restaurants has been so low in Titirangi that this is what people expect. Anyway, Takahe is for the new crowd at Titi and long may they stay ......

We have now been back twice in recent weeks, and yes, we were very satisfied with the quality of service and meals. It is now high on our list of good reliable local restaurants to visit. (Really recommend their fish chowder, extremely yummy!

Having been to Takahe numerous times before, we could believe what we experienced last Saturday morning (18 November 2008).

Walked into the cafe for breakfast and seated ourselves. Had the young waitress come up to us and say that breakfast will not be served until 10am and would we like coffees to wait. We smirked and thought, hmmm, isn't breakfast from 7-10am and brunch from 10am...

Anyway, we had coffees and were willing to wait and thought no. Had waited for 30mins to be served and have our order taken (which this did not happen). Watched as the chefs decided to sit outside at 10am and drink coffee and smoke.

That was it for us, decided to leave on that. I spoke to the waitress at the counter and asked why the delay with service. She rudely (and I mean extremely rude) said that, breakfast is served from 10am and has always been the case.

I then said that that was silly and you are losing a lot of service. She then replied with (in a very matter of fact and again, rude manner), well that is the way it is.

I then said to her in a polite manner, well that's asham, because you have now lost 2 customers and we will be spreading the word rapidly.

We venue out of beautiful Piha residence to enjoy a nice breakfast down the road at Titirangi - only to incur this sort of attitude. Needless to say, Hardware Cafe got our money that day!
