Default Dissapointing experience

Maybe it's because I've lived in the UK, maybe it's because I love Birmingham Balti Houses, maybe it's because I lived with an Indian flatmate, maybe it's because I'm interested in Indian food, maybe it's because I've been to loads of Indian restaurants around the world but this was really really ordinary food. Service was terrible, some young backpacker not familiar with his menu. Now restaurants when you have a drinks list, please make sure you them or just remove them from the list!
I asked for beer listed
nope
second beer listed
nope
third beer listed
nope
OK what do you have then?
I'll just go check
Right great start. Now it's norm in many places to get free poppadoms, unfortuntaly in NZ and in the Curry Club you've to pay $1 for a poppadom! That to me is amazingly expensive, you can purchase packets of these for $1, you can't tell me the labour costs that much. So the cost for 2 people to have something that is served free in many Indian restaurants around the world (6 poppadoms with tomato/onion raita, sweet mango chutney, cucumber raita) would be $16.50. A friend got that delivered from the Curry Club and the sauces were in those tiny thimble things the size of half your thumb, $3.50 each! We passed, that's just not right for something that takes little time or skill to make and prepare and costs next to nothing.
We ordered our curries and they came out in 7 minutes. That just conjured up thoughts of a great big pot out the back, the base for everything!!! You want vindaloo, a ladle of that, 4 pieces of beef and red colouring, bingo, Done! Butter chicken? A ladle of that, 4 slices of chicken, tomato sauce, cream done! Anyway the Beef Madras was terrible. What is dessicated coconut doing in it? It was creamy, sweet and not at all hot, not even red in colour. Lacked flavour, spices, anything of interest. The Vindaloo was just as bad, not hot and where's the vinegar, the garlic? They both tasted the same. The stewed meat seemed to have been added a minute or so before it arrived at my table, in no way integrated. To their credit they do have an oven which you can see bread being cooked in.
If you've travelled and eaten Indian overseas don't come here to rekindle the love of curry. If you've got an interest in Indian food, buy a good cookbook and make it at home. If you are hankering for you past flat mates mum's food don't come here. This food is watered down Indian food full of sugar, cream and coconut.

I stopped ordering delivery meals from there when my curry turned up and tasted like it had just come out of a tin of mothers pride . I don't think g you'll find a equivalent to Brum balti houses or anything close to brick lane here . Have you tried The Great India or the cheaper Planet Spice in Newtown there not to shabby .

We have lots of experience with Indian restaurant in Wellington and The Curry Club is one of our best restaurants since more than 10 years. Just to let you know we been to England and we have eaten Indian food their as well I cant believe want you guys get their may be some of them good but in New Zealand we get more fresh food than any where in world. Well, we had a great experience. Very pleased with the flavours, and all distinct. Very pleased with the service, the waiters were young indian men who knew their stuff. True, a dollar per pappadum is pricey, but the rest was all very reasonable. The bread basket is good value. Barely anything else was open! We managed to get in as we went early, but it was packed when we left. They were also very gracious about our oversized pram containing sleeping newborn and the mess that our two year old made with the rice. We'd go back if we were staying here longer.
