Default Montreal!

Recently back from Montreal, I discovered it to be a vibrant city with a large selection of eateries. Sadly only the top end restaurants were of the quality we have come to expect in NZ, and there prices were expensive. Further more because wine is not consumed in large amounts in Canada, the wine lists were somewhat limited below the $50 Canadian mark (about $65 NZD), consequently making it very hard to drink decent wine consistantly.

One thing was noticeable Italian ,French and US wines were all readily avialable and some places even had token mentions to Aussie and NZ.

However the city is very easy to get around, and the variety of food is excellent. I would rate it as highly as San Fransisco and Chicago in terms of variety and quality, but most of the food styles with some exceptions reminded me of NZ 15 years ago.
